Golf MK7 2.0GTD
One of the latest turbos getting put through the wringer is the new Golf GTD and the VW Scirocco.
As standard these turbos are Garrett GT14 design, this is a good design in the fact it eliminates the thrust bearing, which is always a weak point in a turbo when turning up the boost.
However, its a bad design in the fact the shaft is very thin in comparison to its GT17 counterpart.
In our experience the GT14 design is no good as a base for a hybrid turbo so we decided to completely redesign the interior of the GTD turbo to accept the stronger GT17 design components.
We are well on with this turbo and should have one tested on a vehicle by early June.

We are currently developing the K04-59, 5304-970-0059, in to a hybrid turbo.
In journal bearing, we will certainly be developing them in stage 1 and 2 but we will also look in to a stage 3 but you never know until the R and D has been started.
We are also hopefully developing these in ball bearing, updates will follow with our progression.
